Our New Flux Tank

New, long life equipment now delivered and installed.

To ensure that Korvest Galvanisers will be able to best serve our customers well into the future, the Korvest Board of Directors approved the purchase of a brand new flux tank. The new tank uses the latest materials technology and was designed, built and purchased from Austria. The tank arrived in Adelaide and was later installed in January 2015.

Fluxing of steel is a very important final step of the pre-treatment process before the actual hot dip galvanising takes place. It is important to ensure that a galvaniser has reliable systems for all pre-treatment processes. As Korvest utilises hot flux technology, the flux tank is exposed to elevated temperatures. To cope with the temperature and chemistry, we chose to purchase a tank that is designed to give a minimum of 25 years service life. The new tank is built from a special polymer that will withstand mechanical wear as well as chemical attack at the required temperature. The polymer is supported by a steel cradle that is itself covered in the same resin used in the tank construction to protect it against corrosion.

As our current acid rinse tank is nearing the end of its useful life and is due to be removed from service we will re-employ our old flux tank by replacing the old acid rinse tank that will result in an anticipated 10 years before we need to consider replacing the rinse tank entirely.
